What is a Drum Motor?
The drum motor is a motorized head pulley with no external moving components typically seen on conventional belt drives. The motor, gear drive and all moving parts of the drum motor are enclosed within the drum. The motor and gears operate in a sealed oil bath enclosure, ensuring proper lubrication and cooling. With no external motor, gear reducers rockets, chain, or chain guard, no external component maintenance is required. These rugged design drum motors are quiet, space saving and reliable. It offers a versatile, less complex and more efficient way to power your belt conveyor.

Benefits
Lower Energy Costs
Van der Graaf drum motors operate at 96% efficiency.
The added efficiency of internal drive components can result in energy savings of up to 30% over conventional exposed-drive conveyors.

Reduce Noise Levels
Our gears are manufactured using high quality alloy steel, teeth cut and honed to AGMAIDIN 6 standards, reducing noise to minimal decibel levels which exceeds OSHA requirements for noise.

Conveyor Drive Innovation & Design

Reduce Maintenance & Downtime
Our motors are virtually maintenance free, requiring only drum motor and oil change after 50,000 hours of operation which can be done without removing the drum motor from the conveyor.

Enhance Space Utilization
Low profile of the drum motor results in a cleaner appearance and allows to fit more belt conveyor into less floor or overhead space.

increase Operator Safety
All external moving parts that present safety hazards are eliminated with the drum motor design.
Van der Graaf drum motors are available in mild steel or stainless steel construction, in wide range of sizes, speeds and horsepower to suit broad range of applications.
